Mexican Restaurant Owned by Comedian Carlos Mencia to Open in Downtown Galveston

June 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Actor/Comedian Carlos Mencia, in partnership with the Restaurant Resource Management Group will open Maggie Rita’s Mexican Grill & Bar in early July at 111 Tremont (23rd Street) in historic downtown Galveston. Santiago Moreno and David Quintanilla own Restaurant Resource Management Group which operates several Ninfa’s restaurants in Houston and Serranos in Austin.

“Maggie Rita’s is a fresh new concept we developed for the enjoyment of our guests where they can feel free to relax, eat, drink and become part of the island’s carefree attitude,” says Mencia. “Maggie’s will be an oasis to escape the heat of summer or a place where guests can enjoy the outdoors by sitting on one of our three spacious patios, overlooking the beautiful Galveston Harbor, and sipping one of our award winning margaritas.”

Maggie’s will be open from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant will serve Mexican favorites like chips and salsa, enchiladas, fajitas, burritos, tacos and nachos as well as hamburgers, chicken sandwiches and chicken tenders.

“If you want a great patio, friendly staff, fun drinks, delicious food, easy parking and a convenient downtown location with a fabulous harbor view Maggie Rita’s is the place for you,” says long time restaurateur Moreno. “Who knows, you may even run into celebrity owner Carlos Mencia or one of his many Hollywood friends just hanging out greeting people.”

Maggie’s will be located in the three-story Armour & Co. Building which is part of Mitchell Historic Properties. The building dates to 1912 and offers indoor and outside dining with views of The Strand or Galveston’s historic harbor. The restaurant is adjacent to Saengerfest Park and was formerly Fuddruckers.
