June 4, 2010 - PRLog -- 5 Walnut, the brainchild of owner Matt Logan, is a new wine bar at the eponymous address opening in Asheville. Logan was determined to forge the bar’s ambiance using the talents of local artists and craftsmen. Murals, furnishings, and even an exhibition space reveal the success of those efforts.

Walnut stools with contemporary Japanese styling were designed and hand-built by Brian Boggs, whose fame as a chair-maker is legend even among chair-makers. Boggs has developed uniquely ergonomic chair structures, subtly revolutionizing traditional forms such as ladderbacks, for greater beauty and workability. His sensitivity to angles and comfort have made him a sought-after mentor to other craftsmen as well.

In order to fulfill the large order, Boggs realized a long-held dream of forming a collaborative network with craftsmen, now known as The Boggs Collective, located just south of Biltmore Village.  The Collective is an infrastructure that will allow woodworkers to thrive through a supportive network that includes four key areas: materials, workspace, training and visibility. To meet the needs of these four areas, the Collective will provide, a Woodshed, a Cooperative workshop, a Woodworking School, and a (virtual) Gallery offering fine handcrafted furniture for residential and commercial placement.
