Former Massachusetts Health Care Reform Executive Heads New Health Care Actuarial Office in Boston
Wakely Consulting Group Inc., Health Care Consulting and Actuarial Firm, announces new expansion into Boston, with office to be headed by Patrick Holland, leading Massachusetts figure in health care reform.
Most recently noted for his work in the innovative health insurance exchange in Massachusetts called the Health Connector, Mr. Holland brings to Wakely Consulting Group broad experience in the healthcare market. With direct experience in working with payers, providers, regulatory agencies, and federal and state government, Patrick holds a unique health care reform-driven perspective that is in high demand in today’s changing healthcare landscape.
“Patrick is a tremendous addition to Wakely Consulting Group, especially with the recent passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), the national health care reform bill signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 30, 2010,” said Brian Weible, President of Wakely Consulting Group. “Melding strategy, finance and data analytics, Patrick has been instrumental in creating managed care models that effectively align provider and insurer incentives in the private and public health insurance market at national and regional levels, as evidenced by his success with Massachusetts’
Wakely Consulting Group’s opening of its Boston office, with Mr. Holland at the helm, expands the firm’s national presence into the New England region, a market noted for its heavy concentration of health care providers and insurance companies. Other Wakely Consulting Group offices are located in Clearwater, FL; Denver, CO; and Louisville, KY.
“I am delighted to join Wakely at this very exciting time in health care,” notes Mr. Holland. “With passage of the PPACA, continued double-digit premium trends, and state budgets across the country creating havoc with subsidized health insurance programs, market participants need to find innovative solutions to reduce the underlying cost of care.” Mr. Holland also states that ”As a result of the PPACA, there will be more overlap of the private and public health insurance markets. Joining Wakely Consulting Group will allow me to assist carriers and state governments around the country in blending the best of the private and public sectors to successfully implement healthcare reforms and to enable outreach to the under and uninsured.”
Prior to joining Wakely Consulting Group, Mr. Holland served as Chief Financial Officer for the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority (Health Connector), a government-sponsored health insurance exchange responsible for the implementation of landmark healthcare reform legislation in Massachusetts. Prior to the Health Connector, Mr. Holland held leadership positions in a national health care cost management company, as well as with health insurance carriers and providers. Mr. Holland has significant experience in financial modeling, provider contracting strategy, risk adjustment, managed care operations and data analytics.
