June 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown hotel is hosting a lemonade stand for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation June 11, 12 and 13th. The hotel registered an official Alex’s Lemonade Stand with Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association, teaming up to help raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer. 2010 marks 10 years since cancer patient & founder of ALSF, Alexandra “Alex’ Scott, held her first front yard lemonade stand to find a cure for all childhood cancers.

The hotel’s lemonade stand will be on the corner of 18th and Market Streets- Friday, June 11 8am- 5pm, Saturday and Sunday, June 12 & 13th 10 am – 4 pm.  Lemonade Days is an annual three day national event that grew out of Alex's front yard lemonade stand.  Thousands of volunteers host Alex's Lemonade Stands across the country, raising over $1 million for childhood cancer research in one weekend. Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown is proud to be a part of this annual event to support ALSF.

All employees are playing a part in this opportunity to give back to help families affected by childhood cancer. The Engineering Department even built a lemonade stand to be used for this event to make a big impression. Employees are invited to also bring their children along to volunteer, teaching the importance of helping our community.

ALSF holds a special place for some hotel employees because they know too well the reality of pediatric cancers. Lincoln Humbles, nephew of a hotel employee, is a Childhood Cancer Hero. At only 18 months Humbles was diagnosed with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS), a specific type of tissue cancer. He is now almost 4 years hold and has already undergone chemotherapy and radiation. His full story and photo can be found on ALSF’s website under Childhood Cancer Heroes.

Jennifer Humbles, Lincoln’s mother, expresses great appreciation for the hope that ALSF has given her family to get through this difficult time.

“ALSF has helped not only in just connecting us to more support including the benefit of other families who have been there but also giving the opportunity to find greater meaning in experiencing such a life changing event such as sharing our story to contribute to awareness.”, said Jennifer Humbles.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for June 11, 12 and 13th to support Crowne Plaza Philadelphia Downtown’s lemonade stand to raise funds for ALSF.
