Extends Core Learning Management Systems (LMS) to Isolated Learners & Groups

June 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Pittsburgh, PA, USA – June 2, 2010 Inmedius®, Inc. announces the general release of Generation21™ LMShare™ , a new technology that extends core Learning Management System (LMS) functions to protected and isolated environments, remote locations, and out-of-network individuals or smaller learner groups. A standalone adjunct to any enterprise-class LMS, LMShare replicates essential functionality of the parent LMS. It provides access to training material, administrative tasks, and coursework in a completely secure setting, while being highly flexible to the needs of learners. Fully-integrated, data is transferred automatically, or on demand, when LMShare is connected to the parent LMS. With its built-in calendar, LMShare facilitates a comprehensive learning experience anywhere in the world.

Providing functionality beyond the traditional SCORM® player, LMShare functions as a self-contained or child LMS, enabling users to track progress throughout entire course curriculums. The software supports managed learning configurations for secure networks with three-level hierarchies for administration, department management and individual learners. LMShare can be implemented in a variety of settings for on-site Computer-Based Training (CBT), Instructor-Led Training (ILT) and individual online learning. The software’s user-friendly interface provides easy access to learning content and is fully customizable for instantaneous use. Most functions are pre-configured and no training is necessary.

“A ship at sea provides a great example of LMShare’s capabilities,” said John Stearns, Inmedius VP of Learning.  “With an on-ship network available, the training officer manages a full learning program for several shipboard departments that allows him to schedule sessions, include curriculums, and obtain reports. The three-level hierarchy supports ILT and enables all crew members to complete online training -- completely isolated from the ship line’s parent LMS. Once in port, each crew member’s learning history is uploaded to the parent LMS so that all training records are complete.”

LMShare operates in fully secure, real-world training environments.  Administrative access is restricted, with set-up and configuration tools completely insulated. For individuals and groups of learners with limited or no Internet availability, LMShare provides admittance to courses and curriculums stored on location. Users simply download the small (100 MB) software package onto PCs from the Web or a CD. LMShare includes its own database, is self-loading, fully configured and ready to use. Unlike typical SCORM players, the Generation21 LMS solution enables users to utilize a number of courses in out-of-network training situations for extended periods of time. When a network connection is available, the learning history is uploaded to the master file of the parent LMS. Built-in, one-click reports provide instant information on who is enrolled in what courses, how learners are progressing, and what classes are complete.

A first in the LMS industry, LMShare extends the system’s access and functionality to the organizations’ entire training population. In standalone mode, its database and tools are self-contained. The Generation21 software also integrates and can be easily configured as an extension of any enterprise-class LMS. To learn more, visit http://www.InmediusLearning.com/LMShare.
