When applying the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed credit, not as Category 1. New techniques, screening and patient management for treating peripheral artery disease (PAD) and limb salvage will be areas of focus at NCVH 2010. “We bring all of the specialties that care for patients with peripheral artery disease together to find new ways to treat this common and lethal disease,” said Course Director Craig M. Walker, MD. “It is important to globally assess and provide the best patient care from the very beginning. A high percentage of patients do not need amputation, rather only some type of medical management and wound care.” Multiple concurrent sessions offer dedicated learning opportunities for each specialty. The two-day Family Physician course will offer attendees a comprehensive overview with leading cardiologists. It will be held from 1:30 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, and Thursday June 3, allowing attendees to also attend the morning NCVH General Sessions. Thirty-three presentations are on the course’s agenda, ranging from treating hypertension, deep venous thrombosis and acute chest pain to smoking cessation therapies, screening programs and door to balloon times. The use of implantable defibrillators and cerebral cooling will also be discussed.
