Free Cooking Spices For Participants in Bold Taste Test Challenge

Dollar a Day Gourmet is taking on the competition, inviting visitors to its food savings web site free samples of three spices from their selection of 16 discount line of spices to compare against their current brand and report back.

June 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Is McCormick oregano really worth $8.08 an ounce?

(Shop Rite, Bay Shore, NY  11706 - price per ounce as of May 1, 2010)

Determine for yourself. Rather than try to improve on Chef Monk's style, here's the scoop from his daily food and cooking journal, also know as Chef Monk's Digestive Tracts.

"How bold would it be to set up a blind taste test between OUR 98¢ an ounce spices and the competition? Ooh... that'd be cool. I don't think these clowns could afford one of those big accounting firms to audit it for guaranteed fairness, but maybe we could do it on the cheap? What should we do? Too busy to do all 16 spices. Not practical. How about we pick three maybe, say oregano, thyme and mustard powder? Those are my favorites I think.

"Or maybe yet, let YOU pick three spices out of the 16 and we could parcel post a sample of each and you check 'em out and report back how they stack up against whatever it is you have in your spice rack.

"Now THAT is fair. And we could do it pretty cheap. Send you say a half ounce of each of the three you pick... Wait... lemmee put my Jethro Bodine hat on here and do some figgerin'...

"That's a 2 ounce parcel post to snail mail 'em to you, be cheap enough.. Right? You just gotta be honest and get your results and comments back to us within a reasonable time frame... say two weeks... a week? Nah. two weeks. Let's stretch it out and build up some drama, baby...

"In THIS CORNAHHHHH.... weighing in at one ounce... from Long Island, New YORRRRRRRKKKKKKK.... the 98 Cent Kid.... DOLLAR A DAYYYYY... GOUR.... MAYYYYYYY.... ORRRR... REGAHNOOO... O - Regano...!

"Heh. I love it. BRB.

"(5 minutes later...)

"Ahahahaaha... the head clown loved it. Here's the poop:

"Email me your snail mail address and the three spices you want to take the challenge on.

"No. Wait. You send me an email first with the three spices you wanna test, and what brands you have in your spice rack that you will test them against, and THEN we will select the first xx number of genuine responses we get and ask you for your snail mail, this way it doesn't look like we're just trying to glom your names and addresses here. I promise I'll get back to everyone ASAP.

"Select three spices to receive free samples of from:

"Basil, Celery Salt, Chili Powder, Cinnamon, Coriander, Curry Powder, Fennel Seed, Garlic powder,  Ginger, Italian Seasoning, Lemon Pepper Seasoning, Mustard, Onion Powder,  Oregano, Rosemary, Thyme.

"This is gonna ROCK!!!!
