June 1, 2010 - PRLog -- ACCELERATED BRACES

There are two main options when seeking accelerated braces, both with their individual advantages and disadvantages.  They are:

Inman aligner
Invisalign (Invisible braces)

Inman aligner: It is a specially developed appliance that speeds up the process of straightening a set of crooked teeth usually between six to sixteen weeks.  Sometimes in even four weeks.  It’s made up of positioned springs located in the front of the teeth and back, which moves the teeth to the desired position.

The movement occurs in both sections by pulling the teeth back from the front and moving it forward from the back.  Before the appliance can be fixed, the dentist will run a check on the patient’s teeth and see if they are suitable for the system or if it’s a severe case.

Result times vary depending on how long the device is worn each day.  It is recommended to wear the device for a minimum of 20 hours each day.  The device can be easily removed at anytime which helps with flossing and eating.

The device normally costs between £1250-£2500.

Advantages-
The device delivers fast results.
It is removable anytime.
It is a cheaper option to invisible braces.
Only one device needed for whole of treatment period.
It is cheaper than other braces options.

Disadvantages-
The level of movement that can be achieved is limited.
It is not as discreet as the invisible braces.
It could take up to a week for patient to get used to the device in their mouth.

Invisalign (Invisible braces): Also known as clear braces, the Invisalign is a brace system used to straighten teeth and close gaps them.  The edge with the invisalign is that it comes with no wires and its almost invisible making it perfectly discreet.

The dentist takes a mould of the teeth, which he then uses to generate the model of the braces.  Over time the teeth move into place creating a straighter teeth and smile.  The treatment usually takes between six to twelve months and the patient will need to have a change of their invisalign system every 2 weeks.

For an effective use of the system, it is required for it to be worn at least 20 hours a day and a patient will need regular checkups with their dentist.  It can be easily removed anytime for flossing or eating.

The device will normally cost between £3000-£6000.

Advantages-
No wires mean the device is comfortable and discreet.
It can be removed at anytime.

Disadvantages-
It is more expensive than other braces options like the Inman aligner.
Not as fast as the Inman aligner.
The system needs to be changed every two weeks, which could be an inconvenience.
