Open water swimming is one of the fastest growing sports around the world with events organized in 153 countries in nearly every body of water. The Global Open Water Swimming Conference in Long Beach, California celebrates and promotes this sport.
 
May 31, 2010 - PRLog -- The greatest gathering of open water swimming heroes and heroines in history will take place on June 5 in Long Beach, California at the Global Open Water Swimming Conference.  

These individuals have faced high-risk adventure, waves, wind and currents.  They have also enjoyed tranquil seas, beautiful coral, gorgeous shorelines and majestic lakes.  They have spellbinding stories and adventures to share that both inspire and shock audiences.

Techniques, tactics training and trends for both triathletes and swimmers will be presented by Olympians, world champions, channel record holders, adventure swimmers and prominent triathlon coaches.

Penny Dean who set the English Channel world record, Greta Andersen who once swam 50 miles in 34 hours in Lake Michigan, Ram Barkai who swam 1 mile in Antarctica without a wetsuit, Shelley Taylor-Smith, 7-time world professional marathon swim champion, Philip Rush who swam 28 hours straight in a 3-way crossing of the English Channel  and Matt Dixon, coach of super-star triathletes, are just a few of the eminent personalities at the Conference.

The Conference include a presentations and panel discussions that cover open water swimming lifestyle, training, racing and business.   Open water swimming products, a dinner and a unique Open Water Swimming Almanac will be provided to attendees who are coming from 14 countries on 5 continents.  Discounted fees are available for students from elementary to graduate school ($35 - $55).  

The Conference is held in conjunction with international 5K and 10K races for world-class athletes and shorter events for anyone of any age and ability.  Attendees can listen, learn and then try the sport for themselves in the competitions that are held in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics rowing basin.
