PRLog -- This Spring, young women from all over the state of Kentucky came together to compete for the title of Miss Kentucky - US International at The Center For Rural Development in Somerset, Kentucky. Miss Kentucky-US International was awarded to Louisville native, Alysha Noel Harris, who was incidentally, Miss Louisville, US International prior to acquiring her current state title. The judging categories for this pageant were swimsuit, evening gown, and interview. Alysha recently graduated from the University Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology. "I am the second oldest of six siblings and I wouldn't change it for the world.", says Alysha, "My life has been filled with many blessings and lessons to be learned. I have the motivation of teaching my younger siblings the prospects of what life has to offer and mainly the underlying lesson of 'No dream is to big'. I would describe myself as someone who is personable, versatile and last but not least, caring. I try my best to make the first impression, a lasting impression. I strive to see the good in every situation and when I interact with the people I meet, I hope that all these attributes are evident in the way I carry myself and treat others." Currently, Alysha is preparing to go to Michigan to compete, as Miss Kentucky, for the title of Miss US International. From there, if Miss Harris wins the national title, she will go to China to compete for the coveted, Miss International 2010 title. According to Wikipedia, Miss International (officially titled The International Beauty Pageant) is the fourth largest beauty pageant in the world. It was created in Long Beach, California, USA in 1960, after the departure of the Miss Universe pageant to Miami Beach. Hosted in Long Beach until 1967, the pageant moved to Japan from 1968–1970, being hosted each year in the same city as the Expo '70. Over the next several years, the pageant alternated between Long Beach and Japan. In 2009, Miss International moved to culture-rich China, which is also where the 2010 Miss International will be held.
Alysha will make a guest appearance to model for "Fashion for Haiti", which is a charity event, open to the public, scheduled to take place in Louisville, at Churchill Downs in the Triple Crown Room at 7pm on June 8th, 2010. For more information on attending that event, contact fashionforhaiti@
