May 27, 2010 - PRLog -- In a new poll by online travel agent http://www.tenerife.co.uk, Pandora, the world from the film Avatar, has been voted as the fictional place that tourists would most like to visit on holiday, if it were possible. The poll was inspired by the new mythical Clash of the Titans movie, which was filmed in Tenerife.

A total of 1,739 people responded to the poll and Pandora was the place most wanted to visit, closely followed by Hogwarts, JK Rowling’s mythical school of witchcraft and wizardry from the Harry Potter series, with 54%  claiming they would take a trip there if it were a real place.

Narnia was third on the list of fictional places tourists would most like to visit, with just under half, 48%, admitting they would book a holiday there. Other fictional places that respondents said they would visit were Neverland and El Dorado, the mythical city of gold with 45% and 39% respectively.

The top ten list of fictional places tourists would most like to visit, according to the poll commissioned by http://www.tenerife.co.uk, are;

1.               Pandora, Avatar – 67%

2.               Hogwarts, Harry Potter – 54%

3.               Narnia, The Chronicles of Narnia – 48%

4.               Neverland, Hook – 45%

5.               El Dorado – 39%

6.               The Shire, Lord of the Rings – 31%

7.               Camelot – 26%

8.               Oz, The Wizard of Oz – 22%

9.               Wonderland, Alice in Wonderland – 17%

10.           Naboo, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones - 11%

Other fictional places that proved popular with respondents in the poll were Jurassic Park, taken from the films of the same name, with 8% claiming they would holiday there and the Shangri-la, with 6% of the votes,

Chris Brown, co-founder of http://www.tenerife.co.uk, commented on the fictional places people would most like to visit;

“It’s quite endearing to see the large number of people who have obviously fallen for these fictional places from films; Avatar especially seemed to grab the viewers’ attention with the stunning setting that is Pandora, however after watching the film, I’m not convinced a holiday would be a good idea there with the various creatures wandering around!

“On another of our sites, we are able to look carefully at the destinations people are searching for and I must say, it’s not uncommon for us to receive a search or two for ‘Atlantis’ and even ‘El Dorado’, but I can only hope these are from tourists looking for hotels with these names, as opposed to the so called places.”
