May 26, 2010 - PRLog -- This Friday night at The Cellar there will be quite a bit of excitement and we welcome home Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Dudley from their honeymoon.  We put a lot of thought into how we should best celebrate their return and thanks to some quick work from our friends at La Fenetre Winery we have put together a wine dinner that should prove to be one of the best of the year.

The Cellar welcomes Joshua Klapper, the owner and founder of La Fenetre Wines.  Joshua made a name for himself in the restaurant industry as the wine buyer for landmark restaurants such as Sona where he helped them to obtain a Wine Spectator Grand Award.

One week from tonight Joshua will pour a selection of his artisan wines including his rich 2007 Syrah which received 94 points from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. He will also entertain with stories about how he got started and if you have ever wanted to know what it takes to build a winery from scratch this is your chance.  The happy couple will also be on hand and they will be happy to share details of their trip.

Wine Selections for the Evening

2008 Chardonnay
2008 Marks the first vintage of Santa Barbara County Chardonnay under the brand À Côté. A True regional blend, it is a pure expression of chardonnay from Santa Barbara. Sourced from three different vineyard sites, the wine has harmonized to display a symphony of nuance reminiscent of each.

2008 Cedar Lane, Pinot Noir
2008 Cedar Lane Pinot Noir was converted from a rootstock farm in the late 90s. Farmed by Bruce Sterten and Mark Chesebro (former winemaker at Bernardus) the grapes are small and intense. The resulting wine? Intense, yes. And showing an almost overwhelming play of aromas and flavors: smoked bacon, dried mushrooms, Asian spice, black cherry and moist earth. A small-production treat for the Pinot enthusiast.

2007 La Fenetre Syrah
94 points in the Wine Enthusiast: “Appeals now for extraordinarily rich, soft flavors of caramelized vanilla cream infused with blackberry essence, cassis and pepper, with exotic notes of butterscotch, candied violets and Maraschino cherry glaze. One hundred percent new French oak is not too much for this elaborate, hedonistically rich Syrah. Best opened soon.

2006 Tete Brulee, Cabernet Sauvignon
Only 90 cases of the Tête Brûlée (meaning daredevil) Cabernet Sauvignon exist and we feel privileged to have just a few of them. The fruit comes from the famed Mount Veeder AVA, known for producing wines of structure and intensity. Josh Klapper of La Fenetre and partner Eric Shevin have crafted this beauty with their sites set on ageability. Cab drinkers will be pleased by this wine early on but those “daring” enough to wait will be rewarded after years of proper cellaring.
