Information technology is an integral to both the workplace and everyday activities of most of the students and young professionals. Additionally, exposure to engaging applications of IT is a means to stimulate student interest in the field and an important precursor to the academic preparation needed to pursue IT careers.  Academic institutions take tremendous initiatives to provide opportunities for graduates and lecturers to build the skills and knowledge needed to advance their study and to contribute for a technologically rich society.
Middle East College of Information Technology (MECIT), Oman had organized a tremendous platform for learning and sharing of information in the form of a one day seminar on 16th May 2010.  Mr. George .J .Jason, representing Comguard, an exclusive distributor of EC Council (International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants) and an expert in the field of information security, was invited to address the students and faculty and deliver an enlightening session on “Information Technology and its impact on daily lives”. Mr. Jason explained various defense mechanisms available and the common ways to breach them. In addition to the academic side of technology, students were curious to learn about the promising and relevant career opportunities available currently. Mr. Jason emphasized the need for security education for students as well as lecturers to save themselves from any information theft and data loss threats.
Mr. George J Jason: is a young, dynamic Security Specialist with 14 years of industry experience, offering his immense knowledge in the field of technology for various enterprises in the Middle-East as well as the Indian subcontinent.
