May 26, 2010 - PRLog -- A new online indie magazine has been launched in the Midlands to provide "a stage" for young wannabe music journalists.

Electric Banana is the definitive snapshot of online music news, reviews, and gigs in the Midlands region - featuring contributions from anyone who wants to get involved.

The website was started by Andy Parker in 2009 as a hobby (with the help of fellow Manchester University graduate Julian Wassing) after he struggled to find work within the London-biased music journalism industry.

He said: "For me to get vzmkg my dream job I would have been forced to move to London - which would have been great, but at the time was impossible because I didn't have the money to move."

"So I decided to have a bash at doing something from in my own home, which is a bonus as I understand that most music magazines do not allow their staff to come to work just wearing their underpants!"

Electric Banana has since gained a cult following through "word-of-mouth", local support from Midlands universities, and exposure in the national press (The Fly, etc).
