Showbiz Wig Wizard Andrea Opens The Hairoom In Yorkshire

May 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Wig fitting legend Andrea Holden whose client list reads like a Who’s Who of the showbiz world has brought her much sought-after skills - honed in a career spanning nearly two decades - to a new audience across Yorkshire.

The former Lancashire businesswoman who fitted the hairpieces of showbusiness legend Danny La Rue as well as Three Degrees star Sheila Ferguson and comedienne Faith Brown has launched her own studio, Hairoom, in Morley.

“Now I plan to bring the benefits of my training and years of experience to those people who need me most, both men and women coping with the heart break of alopecia and those others who suffer sudden hair loss through serious illnesses like cancer,” said Andrea speaking from her new studio in Queen Street.

“Of course I’ll still look after my celebrity clients, but I will now be able to bring all major named brands and the new lightweight and highly realistic Feather Premier Collection of wigs from market leaders Dimples, to a wider audience many of whom will be coping with serious health challenges.

“The Feather Collection is already in much demand as it is designed with the necessity wearer in mind,” added Andrea.

In fact it was the sudden and total loss of hair experienced by Andrea’s five years old niece many years ago that inspired the talented Lancashire lass to enrol as a trainee wig fitter in her native Blackpool.

“My little niece lost all her hair to Alopecia Totalis and I was there when she had her first wig fittings,” recalled Andrea. “It was that experience that led me to make a career out of wig-fitting and during that long career I have learned how losing ones hair can result in a total lack of confidence.

“When a woman loses here hair she feels as if she has lost her femininity. It can be a huge blow. I thrive on being able to empower  my clients to rebuild their confidence and self esteem.

“Working in Blackpool I came across many showbusiness names who had wigs to fit their image both on and off stage and I learned a great deal about my profession. Now I’m bringing that professionalism to necessity wearers.

“I also work with the NHS and have supplied wigs to hospitals across the country. A particularly rewarding experience was fitting and styling children’s wigs for young patients from the Manchester Children’s Hospital. I worked hard to make them look as natural as possible and I suppose this is where my mission began.”

Andrea’s client list is now growing with Leeds women - and men, including some with illness induced hair loss. “Thankfully as the sole distributor of the new Dimples Feather Premier Collection, I can offer stylish and ultra comfortable wigs at competitive prices,” added Andrea.

But why did she choose Morley for the location of the new studio?
“It was fate,” she said. “I crossed paths with successful businessman Fred Berry who owns  a chain of hair replacement clinics. He saw my potential and suggested we could work together.

“He had space for my studio here in Morley.The premises are  perfect as necessity wearers want to be treated discretely and in comfortable surroundings.”
