May 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Quantek Systems Ltd have launched the TELCON 500 GSM remote control switch that enables servers and network equipment to be re-booted from anywhere in the world by simply making a phone call.

The TELCON 500 is a GSM remote control switch, it connects to the mobile phone network and like a mobile phone it has its own telephone number.

The TELCON 500 is activated by calling its phone number, it will recognise an authorised telephone number calling it, reject the call without answering and switch on or off the equipment connected to it for a preset length of time, because it rejects the call without answering there are no call costs incurred.

Applications include, rebooting of remote base stations, servers and network equipment, door and gate access control

Terry Smith Director at Quantek Systems Ltd comments “Being able to reset equipment remotely no mater where it is located can save companies large amounts of money and increase the up time of systems. For example a customer in Portugal has installed a TELCON500 to reset a router in a remote radar tower, the router occasionally ‘locks up’ and to reset the router locally involved a 160 mile round trip”
