May 25, 2010 - PRLog -- 25 May 2010, Singapore. Singapore’s largest multi-purpose event venue is set to welcome a record crowd starting Wednesday, 26 May. From exhibitions to religious events and retail sales, all Halls at Singapore Expo will be brimming with activity for the next ten days!

First up on the exhibitions front is Singapore Food Expo at Hall 5 from 27 May to 1 June, where 500,000 foodies will be treated to a myriad of local food delights and all-time favourite beverages. Also taking place until 6 June is Luxury Living 2010 at Hall 6A, which will present numerous furniture manufacturers and furnishing brands to over 5,000 expected visitors. Licence2Play, the widely popular gaming and electronics fair happening from 28 to 30 May, is set to attract some 200,000 gaming aficionados and computer enthusiasts to descend upon Expo’s Hall 6B. Last but not least, almost 4,000 delegates will be attending the National Child Education Exhibition & Conference at the Conference Halls over three days starting 30 May.

Shopaholics will be delighted by the exciting line-up of retail activities this week. Expo is expecting some 30,000 to flock to the John Little Mega Expo Sale when it returns to Expo on 27 May, this time at Hall 4 and running till 6 June. Bargain hunters can also look forward to the Branded Apparel and Sportswear Sale at Level 2 of Foyer 2. Bookworms will be equally delighted by the wide selection of fiction and non-fiction titles, magazines and stationery items going at unbeatable prices at the Popular Fair at Hall 3 from 28 May to 1 June, which is set to draw a crowd of 30,000. This ultimate shopping extravaganza will culminate in the highly-anticipated one-day-only Coach and Kate Spade Sale at Conference Hall G in the early evening of 31 May.

Expo to host regional Christian conference as well as Vesak Day commemorative events

From 26 to 30 May, Asia Conference & Church Growth International 2010 will be housed in Halls 7, 8 and 10, where some 60,000 Christian delegates will congregate for their mega meeting.

In the spirit of Vesak Day, Expo will also be host to the Dharma Conference from 28 to 30 May, where 4,500 devotees will convene to mark this important date in the Buddhist calendar and pray for harmony and peace for all. In addition, Maha Moggallana - A Story of Filial Piety (大孝目犍连), a Mandarin musical spectacular, will be staged at Hall 2 on 28 and 29 May. Adapted and directed by Singapore’s playwright-director extraordinaire Goh Boon Teck, and featuring 100 performers including local music luminaries Emma Yong, Darius Tan and Project Superstar 2 finalist Sugie, this production will showcase costumes by Bangkok designers Tube Gallery and a stunning production set that includes a gigantic Buddha’s palm. An 8,000-strong audience will keep company with the protagonist, Maha Moggallana, on his journey of emotional discovery, redemption and enlightenment.

Join in the activities at Expo with peace of mind

With the high level of local turnout being expected at these events, vehicular traffic and parking are anticipated to be heavy, especially over the coming long weekend. With the dedicated Expo MRT Station right at the doorstep of Expo, along with four bus services (SBS 12, 24, 35 and 38) serving the roads around Expo, visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transport during this period.

Says Chandran Nair, Deputy General Manager of Singex Venues Pte Ltd, the managing company of Expo, “The vibrant array of activities set to happen at Expo in the next ten days is a fine showcase of our creativity and versatility in hosting events of any genre and scale. Delivering memorable experiences for all visitors who come through our doors is a key component of our business, not only for the international exhibitions and conferences that we host each year, but also for the many special events that attract our Singapore residents throughout the year.  The ‘boom’ at this coming long weekend is one such occasion and we are all looking forward to welcoming everyone.”
