Innovative Asian-style Ice Cream Comes to Decatur

May 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Atlanta, Georgia -May 24, 2010 – SunO Dessert, the popular shaved iced cream café, is opening a new location just in time for summer. Free samples of the innovative Asian-style shaved ice cream, bubble teas, and a prize drawing for an Apple iPad are just some of the items on the menu for the grand opening event.

The Emory area store opens its doors at 2144 N Decatur Rd, at the corner of N. Decatur and Clairmont Road. The Grand Opening celebration is being held on Friday, May 28th between 7-9 p.m.

Based on Asian ice cream, SunO starts with a heaping bowl of creamy shaved ice. Customers choose from a wide variety of toppings and syrups. Selections include standard ingredients such as fresh fruit and crushed cookies, but the main reason to go is to try the traditional Asian toppings; such as red beans, jellies and rice cake. Bubble tea lovers have over 100 flavor combinations available between the different teas, syrups and jellies.

Started by an Emory graduate, SunO strives to maintain an active presence in the community. The initial goal of the dessert restaurant was to provide a safe haven for local young people and to promote youth leadership. Student employees are required to maintain good grades in order to work at any of the store locations and procedures are in place to help those who are struggling. The Youth Leadership Program works with local schools to reward academic achievement and offers in the field business education opportunities. SunO is also a very active supporter of the greater Atlanta Asian community through sponsorship and charity events.

The new location offers free wi-fi and extended hours. It should prove to be a hit with local families and students.
