May 23, 2010 - PRLog -- ReportYourComplaint.com is a consumer reporting website that exposes fraud, scam and unethical businesses.  It also highlights those businesses that provide excellent customer service and go far and beyond for their customers.  Now they are trying to make people aware of the rampant fraudulant abuse of Amazon.com's A to Z guarantee program that is going on right now.

According to ReportYourComplaint.com executive Keith Rushman, "Amazon.Com came out with a noble idea that sounded good at the time of guaranteeing buyers purchases no matter what.  This idea was to help set them apart from eBay and to try and steal additional market share away from eBay.  The A-Z guarantee program worked great, but a little too great.  More and more customers are learning how to get free items on Amazon.com without ever having to pay for them."

Basically what's going on is shady consumers are opening multiple buyer accounts and ordering items and reporting them as being received other than as described.  What this means is that they order a $100 DVD box set like the entire Star Trek series.  The shady customer then immediately files a claim upon receiving the correct item stating that they received something other than as described.  Then they return the item as per Amazon.com's A-Z guarantee program claim requirements.

The seller then is returned a Barbie doll or some similar item of zero or little value and upon receipt of this Amazon.com immediately refunds the buyer and there is virtually no recourse for the seller.  This has been going on for a while, probably since the start of the A-Z guarantee program, but Amazon.com has kept the level of this fraudulent activity quiet.  This is similar to eBay and the huge difference between their opinion on how much fraud actually exists on their website and the FBI's interpretation of how much fraud really exists on their website.

According to eBay there is less than 1% of fraud that occurs through their website.  According to the FBI there is on average 50% which means one out of every two transactions that takes place on eBay involves some degree of fraud whether the stolen items through shoplifting from Wal-Mart or more commonly now, due to the fraudulant abuse of Amazon.com's A-Z guarantee program, the reselling of free items that were basically stolen from Amazon.com sellers.  According to reliable sources on the Internet, police and the FBI numbers as high as 20% have been thrown out for the current level of fraud due to the abuse of the A-Z guarantee program.

"Our purpose here is not to try and tell people how to obtain free items from Amazon.com fraudulently by abusing the A-Z guarantee program, the purpose here is to bring to light the fraudulent activity on behalf of shady consumers at Amazon.com and the fact that this fraudulent activity actually does, just like shoplifting, increase the cost of items across the bord to honest consumers.  Just like with click fraud sellers have to take this high level of fraudulent activity into account and adjust their prices accordingly which means everyone will pay more money and their costs will go up.  We hope by bringing this abuse and fraud to light that more will be done to police or stop this fraudulent activity on Amazon.com."
