May 23, 2010 - PRLog -- In the “I Got A Bailout!” article Pastor Daniel E. Lundmark states, “Guess what?  I got a bailout!  I was hopelessly in debt and daily felt the despair of knowing it was utterly impossible to pay my debt, but then…I got a bailout!”

The “I Got A Bailout!” column is one of the weekly “Pastor’s Comments” newspaper columns written by Pastor Daniel E. Lundmark of Northampton Assembly of God, Northampton, PA.  The newspaper column ministry started in 1975 in a Northampton newspaper and then moved on to other newspapers in or near the Lehigh Valley with circulations totaling over 150,000.  Recently, the church increased that circulation by placing a “Pastor’s Comments” ad on The Morning Call online site which presently has 40,000 unique users per day.  The weekly column is emailed free to all who request it using the pastor@naog.ws email address.

While Pastor Lundmark writes on various topics, the basic purpose of the column is to reach souls for Jesus Christ.  The column is intentionally not on the religious page so that it might serve, in the pastor’s words, "As a fishing hook in the waters."

Pastor Lundmark wrote this “ I Got A Bailout!” column in January, 2009 when the government was providing bailouts for the auto industries, banks, etc.  He realized it was on the minds of many people—especially those who were personally mired down in vast financial debts.  He later stated, “What must it be like to be in debt with no hope of ever getting out of it and then to have someone pay off your debt for you?  I can only imagine the joy that person would experience in being released from the financial burden and pressure of his debt!   Yet, that scenario in one’s short lifetime would not even come close to comparing to the joy one experiences in being released from the bondage of sin which carried eternal ramifications!”  Those thoughts inspired Pastor Lundmark to share his own experience of the hopeless despair he felt in being unable to pay his debt of sin before he personally knew the astonishing joy of sins forgiven.  He writes, “I was hopelessly in debt and daily felt the despair of knowing it was utterly impossible to pay my debt, but then…I got a bailout!  Now I am totally free of my horrific debt!  I don’t think you can understand how happy and free I feel—now that I got a bailout!”  The pastor goes on to explain, “No, it wasn’t a bailout by the government.  With all of its capacity to pay out trillions of dollars, it lacked sufficiency to bail me out of my debt.  You see, my debt was my sin which separated me from an absolutely holy God—not just in this life, but forever.  I learned this bad news from the Bible. ‘Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you’ (Isaiah 59:2).  I also learned more bad news—that I could never do enough good to pay my debt because it is, ‘Not by works of righteousness’ (Titus 3:5).  But then I learned the good news that God loved me and had a bailout available!  ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life’ (John 3:16).  I applied for the bailout by faith.  ‘For by grace are ye saved through faith…it is the gift of God’ (Ephesians 2:8).’”
