By: Mt Baldy Chamber of Commerce “Bobby is one of the funniest and busiest comedians on the circuit today, and we are ecstatic to have him at the Notch,” states Keith Hunt President of the Mt Baldy Chamber of Commerce. “I first saw Bobby on TV about 15 years ago but it was only recently that I got to see him live at the Hermosa Comedy and Magic Club and the Pechanga Casino. Both were sold out crowds and everybody left in stitches.” Bobby Collins has hosted his own Showtime Special and VH1's "Stand-up Spotlight." On tour he has opened for major celebrities such as Cher, Dolly Parton, Julio Inglesis, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra. His first comedy CD "On The Inside" was a big success but "Out Of Bounds," earned a Grammy nomination. Growing up in a rough neighborhood of Queens, NY, Bobby used his wit and humor to get out of fights and doing homework. His personality landed him a job when a Calvin Klein executive saw Bobby sell Klein's wife some jewelry at the Garment Center in Manhattan. One year later, at age 26 he was vice president for the fashion company, but all the time he was still doing stand-up in his spare time. He was named after his father's favorite comedian, Bob Hope. Collins relates "I've never saw Bob Hope perform. But when I was appearing in Philadelphia for the first time, a newspaper reporter from New York City caught my act and liked it so much he decided to put me on the cover of the paper's weekend section. Lost in the cover's corner was a tiny picture of Bob Hope. While I was visiting with friends in the local restaurant, a black limousine pulled up and the driver handed me a manila envelope. Inside was a signed photo of Bob Hope along with a note saying 'how dare you get top billing on a weekend,' with a happy face written in. I still have it to this day." Hunt continues, “During live shows many comedians just go through their routine and fail to really engage the audience. Not so with Bobby Collins. With his big grin, boyish good looks, hilarious observations and interpretations of life, he draws you in to become part of the show. He describes people and situations that everybody can recognize, even if it’s his dog waiting at the window for Bobby to come at 3 AM. By the way his dog has an amazing grasp of the English language to announce to rest of the Collins household “hey everybody, Bobby’s home!”” “It is obvious he loves his job and fans love him. If anybody leaves the show at the Top of the Notch without laughing we will check for a pulse and then call the undertaker,” There will be two dinner shows at the Top of the Notch Restaurant August 14th 2010. A ride on the chair lift is required to reach the restaurant. The Mt Baldy Chamber of Commerce state Bobby Collins tickets will go on sale soon.
