Berkeley, CA – May 20, 2010 - The Nyingma Trust will commemorate Buddha’s Enlightenment Day with a prayer walk and celebration at the Odiyan Enlightenment Stupa in Northern California. The public is invited to make prayer requests and offer a dana, the Buddhist word for “generosity”, in the form of donations.  Prayers offered on Buddha’s Enlightenment Day are reputed to have 10 million times the power of everyday prayers.

Members of the Odiyan Community will circumambulate (walk clockwise) around the Odiyan Stupa praying for positive fulfillment of wishes until all the offerings have been honored. You can ask for healing or positive rebirth, business success, financial stability or the health and safety of yourself, your friends, family and country when you sponsor a prayer. Horns and conch shells will call attention to our actions, and this day will be punctuated by the ringing of the Odiyan Stupa bell.

With open hearts and awareness, the Odiyan Community will radiate love and positive energy out into the universe. A virtual ocean of blessings will emanate from the Stupa’s special form, prayer wheels, and the relics of Gautama Buddha and Tibetan Masters housed within its heart section. One's intention is supported by the community's dedication to the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha and is fueled by the power of the Stupa and its sacred ground.

Sponsor a prayer to benefit a cause close to your heart or a larger wish for the peace and balance of the whole world. The entire Buddhist world makes special offerings and conducts ceremonies during this month of special days with the belief that all actions, both positive and negative, are increased in consequence during the month of the Buddha's Birth (when Enlightenment and Parinirvana occur). It is especially true on Enlightenment Day which carries a magnification of 10,000,000 for all things done on this day.
