May 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Less than 30 days after the United States House of Representatives declared May 1st Silver Star Service Banner Day, the Senate joined them by passing S Resolution 354.

Silver Star Service Banner Day is a day set aside to remember and honor the wounded, ill and injured of our armed forces from all wars.

Steve Newton, co-founder of the SSFOA, stated:  "The Silver Star Families of America is honored that the Senate has passed S Resolution 354 declaring May 1st Silver Star Service Banner Day.  Forevermore our wounded, ill and injured Armed Force members will have a day set aside to remember the sacrifices they have made for this Nation.  And whenever someone sees  a Silver Star Service Banner in a window or a Silver Star Flag flying they will be reminded that freedom is not free."

When the President of the United States issues a Proclamation the Silver Star Families of America will have made it three in a row for a clean sweep of the legislative process.

Newton continued:  “I have no doubt that the Commander in Chief of our armed forces will want to honor the warriors he sends into battle that become wounded, ill or injured.  We will be looking for a quick proclamation process.”
