Harare Hustler To Debut At Miss ZimUSA 2010

Top Zimbabwean clothing line will make it's official debut in the United States market at ZimExpo 2010 in Washington, DC.

May 24, 2010 - PRLog -- After building a strong fan base across Europe and Africa, Zimbabwean clothing line Harare Hustler is landing on US soil at Miss ZimUSA 2010 in Washington, DC.

The brand, the brain child of Kunta Kinte Conscious Clothing founder and CEO, Terrie Gunz, is long overdue in the US market. Gunz began designing clothing from a young age in his native Zimbabwe, however, it was in March 1995 that he began the Kunta Kinte label, when he began supplying Zimbabwean flea markets and small shops around it's capital, Harare, with his unique clothing.

After getting his clothing onto the backs of international stars like Damon Dash, Sizzla Kalonji, Talib Kweli, Inspectah Deck of Wu Tang Clan, Buju Banton, Kano, Metaphysics (Zim rapper), and recently Nappy Roots and Stic-Man of Dead Prez, Gunz developed a nickname amongst his peers, who all called him the Harare Hustler.

It is this nickname that Gunz has now turned into a separate line under Kunta Kinte, and hip conscious people across the world just can't seem to get enough of it. With Harare Hustler, Gunz's aim, besides representing the city of Harare, is to let people know that hustling is not a bad thing, or a bad word, and simply the pursuit of a better life and pursuing your dreams.

When asked what keeps him going, Gunz said, "As creative Africans we are tired of supporting labels like Sean John, Ecko, Coogi, Fubu etc.. its time we support and wear our own."

After the line was introduced, it gained almost instant brand recognition with the majority of Zimbabweans around the world. However, the shirts shot into the mainstream market towards the end of 2009 when Zimbabwean rapper Carlprit sported the shirts in numerous videos and in a live appearance on GMTV performing with German dance act Cascada. Cascada's song, 'Evacuate The Dancefloor', featuring Carlprit, debuted on the UK singles chart at number 1, and peaked at number 2 in Ireland and New Zealand. Cascada's album also went on to peak at number 7 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums Chart in the US.

In early 2010, Terrie Gunz contacted Los Angeles-based Zimbabwean rapper, Just Lyphe, concerning the creation of a song dedicated to all the true hustlers out there, and soon the Harare Hustler Anthem was born. Just Lyphe in turn teamed up with a group of investors in the United States, and together they have arranged for the popular brand to finally make it's US debut in the United States' capital, Washington, DC at Miss ZimUSA 2010.

Visitors of Zimexpo will be the first to be able to purchase the hard-to-get tees in the US during the three day event (May 28th-31st), while many have already reserved the shirts online which not only grants them a 30% discount, but also guarantees that a shirt will be made available for them at the Zimexpo.

The Harare Hustler shirts, printed on 100% heavy weight cotton T-Shirts using ozone friendly dyes and inks, are officially being imported by the Property Of Africa Foundation, which in turn is donating 10% of all proceeds to Zimbabwean charity http://www.Munhu.org.
