While commercial products can offer surety that they will definitely work, you can save money and get great results making your own environmentally friendly flower food at home (despite others saying you can’t).
To survive, flowers need three ingredients:
http://FlowerBunch.com.au always provide flower food sachets for all retail flower orders, but you can make your own homemade flower preservative and flower food. Even with cutting flowers in your own garden, you can enjoy them for longer, using our basic recipe.
Homemade Flower Food and Floral Preservative
Home mixes can be almost as effective as commercial preservatives.
This easy-to-make recipe is my favourite.
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon environmentally firendly household bleach
2 teaspoons lemon or lime juice
1 quart lukewarm water
While the home-made recipe may not give results quite as good as the pre-packaged versions it is almost free and with “natural” ingredients we know it is safe to handle and pour on the garden / grey water.
