Arty workshops planned for June
Youngsters will be given chance to get creative this June, as the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is planning free art and craft workshops for children of all ages.
From Tuesday 1 June, selected artists have been signed up to give children the opportunity to discover new techniques and try things that they wouldn’t necessarily be able to have a go at in school.
This half term holiday, children from aged 5 to16 years will be able to take part in the free workshops, no previous experience is necessary and complete beginners are welcome.
The workshops are designed to teach children a range of new skills including script writing and performing and teepee making, using fabric dye and paints.
Other workshops include sculpture making and textiles.
Classes take place at the Gallery on Alexandra Road from 10am – 3pm.
June also sees the return of the Saturday Morning Art Club for 11-14 year olds.
The art club runs for 3 weeks, taking place on consecutive Saturday mornings from 10am-12pm and children will be asked to attend all 3 workshops.
From 5 June, youngsters will take a journey across the world to produce an exciting mixed media artwork inspired by the Gallery’s Collection.
Swansea art educator Carolyn Davies said “I am very pleased to be working at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery this June.
The arts works on display have a fascinating history and it is great to be able to get children looking at them and using them to make their own work”
Booking is essential as places are filled very quickly so book today by calling the Gallery on 01792 516900.
