Play N Trade Crowns International Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Tournament Winner, $1700 in Prizes

Williams, 16, has been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 since its release in November of 2009 but had little experience in tournament play prior to his victory on Saturday, May 15th.

“I had played in a few local tournaments at the Play N Trade in Chester, NY when the owner told me I should enter the international tournament,” says Williams. “It was a great feeling to win with my family and friends there to support me, especially during that last, tough match.”

“Overall the tournament was a great success,” says Play N Trade Chester owner, Todd Finley. “Many of the people watching had never experienced an event like this in a video game store. It was definitely an intense atmosphere.”

“Evan was very happy not only to win but to show how well he can play his favorite game,” adds Finley. “We couldn’t be happier that a local gamer took the international prize and represented Chester.”

Contestants in the International Tournament were comprised of the best players from over 150 Play N Trade stores across the U.S. and Canada.

Williams barely edged out his competition to take home the 1st Place Grand Prize package that included $500 store credit, an Xbox 360 Elite bundle, a G8 shirt, a Steel Series Siberia V2 headset and a pair of Gunnar gaming glasses valued at $1300. Prizes were also awarded to 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, respectively.
