Tannery Marketplace Owner David Hall Receives Entrepenuer Of The Year

May 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Newburyport, MA – The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce (http://www.newburypotchamber.org) recognized local business owner and community advocate David Hall as Entrepreneur of the year.  Mr. Hall is the owner of The Tannery Marketplace (http://www.tannerymarketplace.com)  which is a restored and historic series of Mill buildings that now serve as a premier shopping destination on Boston’s North Shore.  The award winning shops have been recognized as by Boston Magazine (http://www.bostonmagazine.com/best_of/detail/best_of_boston_2009_shopping_spot_north/) who says that for shopping The Tannery Marketplace “remains the most enticing on the North Shore.”

In addition to being recognized as a shopping location, The Tannery Marketplace is a regional example of environmental stewardship.  The complex sports 400 150 Watt BP photovoltaic panels which is one of the largest privately owned solar arrays in New England.  All of the businesses have been individually audited and each have been trained in the mandatory recycling program that to date has reduced solid waste by more than 75% and single stream recycling has been doubled.  This commitment to environmental responsibility stems directly from Mr. Hall’s personal philosophy, he explains, “This is what I believe in, we are a large facility and it’s important that we take the lead on providing education and opportunity for businesses to initiate responsible waste disposal.” He adds, “I could not be more pleased with how my tenants have embraced this opportunity”.  
The Tannery’s retail and service reputation aside, Mr. Hall was recognized for his innumerable community service programs.  Chamber president Ann Ormond noted that he has "created a sense of community and true partnership in Newburyport.”   Mr. Hall was specifically recognized for his recent work on two different community wide charitable campaigns that in total raised in excess of $12,000.00 for charity.  Ms. Ormond went on to say that, “Through all of his work, David’s kind nature, humor, and genuine affection for his community come through in immeasurable ways.”
