Infinity Futures – Reliability in the Volatility

Infinity Futures – Reliability in the Volatility
By: Infinity Futures

May 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Chicago, IL - On May 6, 2010, the US financial markets, and especially the Equity and Stock index markets experienced a period of unprecedented market volatility.  Terry Duffy, CME Group Executive Chairman said “CME Group futures markets functioned well on May 6, despite volatile financial market conditions and apparent pricing problems in selected individual securities markets.”

Chairman Duffy also went on to say "During the steep market decline that occurred between approximately 1:41 and 1:45 pm (CT), liquidity and effective spreads in CME's E-mini S&P 500 futures contracts were significantly better than in the related SPDR ETFs.”

Having said that, futures traders along with Stock and EFT traders, were hurt if they were on the wrong site of the market on May 6th. Traders that were placing orders on trading platforms with inadequate risk controls were exposed to considerable exposure, and many experienced considerable capital depletion.

The engineers for Infinity Futures’ premier trading platform – Infinity AT – anticipated the need to build robust Price and Execution software and systems.  Not only did Infinity AT handle the volatility on this grim day, it exceeded even the developers performance expectations.  Our Senior Risk manager went so far as to say “It was like a Sunday walk in the park.”

Infinity AT’s risk management controls, which are set at the customer level, added a further and unique level of protection against capital depletion.  Please understand that auto liquidation platforms should not be used as synthetic stops and they are not fail-safe.  However, on May 6th, Infinity AT did the job.

Whether you trade on Infinity AT or with another platform, we highly recommend trading with back-up auto-liquidation protection.
