Marc Howard Named Civil Justice Political Action Committee Chair

ATLANTA, GA -- 05/12/10 – The Civil Justice Political Action Committee (PAC), the political arm of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (GTLA), has named Atlanta-based attorney Marc Howard its new Chairman.

Howard—a founding partner at Pope & Howard, P.C., an Atlanta law firm specializing in catastrophic personal injury cases—will serve as Chair for the Georgia PAC for the 2010-2011 election cycle.  Howard received the honor at the organization’s annual convention, held April 22-23.

The PAC is a non-partisan organization with the primary objective of preserving and protecting the civil justice system and access to the courts for all Georgians.  “I am honored to serve on this committee with some of Georgia's best trial lawyers.  I feel the PAC is a vital part of our effort to preserve access to the courts for all Georgia residents,” Howard said.

As the new chairman for the Civil Justice PAC, Howard will continue the efforts of the committee to support Georgia legislators and candidates who have supported the rights of Georgians to have access to the courts and trial by jury.  The Civil Justice PAC is one of the largest political action committees in Georgia and plans an active role in the 2010 election in Georgia.

Howard, who has successfully tried and settled hundreds of personal injury and wrongful death cases, most recently served as the chair of the Amicus Committee for GTLA, which was responsible for submitting appellate briefs to the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court on important legal issues.
