May 13, 2010 - PRLog -- A GREEN Light Bulb business in Cheltenham says it is making a profit by helping the environment.
LED Lighting Bulbs specialises in reducing the electricity costs and carbon emissions of homeowners by switching their light bulbs.
The company offers a website for home users to buy these LED Light bulbs and view lighting energy savings, along with how much they are likely to save on electricity bills by switching.
Director Carlwyn Coombes said: "By switching to LED lighting, domestic users can save hundreds of pounds and reduce their carbon footprint as well.
"The latest LED technology provides as much light as a regular bulb and last up to 50,000 hours which means an average savings of £300 per bulb.
"There is an initial outlay for home owners but once they realise the long-term savings involved they are quick to purchase from our website."
Founded in 2006, the company spent its first year researching the LED market before taking advantage of the credit crunch to help businesses reduce costs and have now moved into the domestic market.
The company is part of the business LED group Primera LED Ltd, who has supplied the Holiday Inn Express in Cheltenham with LED lights. This will save nearly £6,000 per year in reduced electricity costs.
Mr Coombes added: "By switching, we have saved the Holiday Inn more than 90 per cent on its annual lighting electricity costs, which is a phenomenal amount.
"They will also save just over 20 carbon tones in Carbon Emissions.
Hotel manager Jason Hiley said: "We are committed to energy conservation.
"The installation of the LED lighting at the hotel is the first step to our long-term commitment to the Intercontinental Hotels Group's global green engage policy."
LED Lighting Bulbs (Part of the Primera LED Group) is a registered supplier of the Carbon Trust, a Government scheme to reduce carbon emissions in the UK.
The company estimates that LED lights will last 50,000 hours which will be over five years if on 24 hours a day before they need to be changed.
TG Newman BSc science MSc environment engineering and an Environment Manager said:
“Electricity costs are constantly rising and black outs being predicted by 2016. LED lighting bulbs are offering domestic customers quality LED lighting which can replace your existing halogen lighting. They have a team of LED technical account managers at the end of the phone that will discuss your LED lighting needs and will calculate your saving to make sure you have peace of mind with your purchase.”
LED Lighting bulbs comment that the benefits of changing over to LED lighting do not end with just the 90% electricity cost savings on your lighting bill. The list is endless compared to halogen and CFLs. These include no maintenance as they last 50,000hours, no heat issues as LED lights give off little heat, no mercury content so you do not need to evacuate your home if one breaks unlike with CFLs, Instant light no warm up time and 90% reduction in Carbon Emissions.
