May 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who signed for a record €94 million euros at the beginning of this season, is the most profitable player in the history of Real Madrid.

According to Spanish sports daily AS, Spanish club Real Madrid have recouped most of the world record fee they paid Manchester United, for getting Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal. Just in the Spanish capital alone close to 1,200 million jerseys and other CR9 memorabilia have already been sold.

If we multiply this impressive number by €85 euros, which is the purchase cost of each official Ronaldo 9 jersey, it adds up to approximately €100 million euros, even after deducting production and marketing costs, payments to Ronaldo and kit manufacturer Adidas, in these sums.

Now, since Real Madrid paid Manchester United €94 million euros for the Madeira Island native, this means that the investment the 'merengues' made has already been recovered ... in jerseys, and these are only the numbers of Real Madrid official memorabilia shop, next to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Thousands pass through Real Madrid’s “merchandise headquarters” every day and most want to buy the jersey with the “Ronaldo 9” name, by far the most mediatic player of all time at the club. Neither Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo (Brazil) or Beckham sold as much as Cristiano Ronaldo has done in just ten months.

And if we take into account that the Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portugal international signed for six seasons it’s easy to conclude that the number of future sales will be huge and that Real Madrid will make a very profitable investment from the Portuguese soccer star just from the sale of jerseys alone.

If we add to that figure the income from advertising contracts divided by the player with Real Madrid, then the numbers will even be more astronomical, possibly reaching up to 200 million euros in advertising contracts in the coming years. That is to say, the most expensive player in the world has already paid off.
