World Animal Awareness Society to Fly Over the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Collect Visual Data

Tom McPhee, Executive Director of the World Animal Awareness Society is scheduled to embed with the US Coast Guard on Saturday, May 8, 2010 for an overflight of the Gulf Regions affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill to document the response.
 
May 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Mobile, Alabama – Tom McPhee of the World Animal Awareness Society will join the Coast Guard in a flight over and around the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday, May 8, 2010 to collect visual data of the oil spill and skimming response, as well as the  human/animal interactions that transpire. The helicopter flight will leave at 8 AM CDT from the Coast Guard Aviation Training Center in Mobile, Alabama and is expected to last from 1 to 3 hours.

About Tom McPhee - Tom McPhee is the Executive Director and Founder of the World Animal Awareness Society. Tom has been an award winning producer and director of film, TV, multi-language interactive media, as well as a specialty film/media distributor. Tom McPhee is the owner of 2 media companies, Cave Studio & Man Smiling Moving Pictures. Tom also served as producer and host/character on two animal-centric TV shows in 2009 for The Pet Network in Canada.  Tom traveled to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina to help provide relief to those affected.  While in NOLA Tom discovered an entire world he had no idea existed and most people never pay attention to: the world of animal rescue, which led to Producing/Directing the award-winning documentary An American Opera. This set Tom on a journey; a journey to discover the many ways humans and non-human animals relate. Through the WA2S, he plans on scouring the nation for stories to film about this relationship. Tom has experience working in post disaster environments and works well with impromptu decision making as these types of situations require.  He participates in short course/Q&A sessions that involve documenting disasters.  Tom recently participated in the relief efforts that occurred shortly after the earthquake in Haiti.
