MEDIA ALERT: Toy Industry + My Stuff Bags Aide Abused Children

May 6, 2010 - PRLog -- My Stuff Bags Foundation to help abused and neglected children by filling My Stuff duffels with toys, toiletries and handmade items that will be distributed to shelters and foster care agencies across the United States.

An estimated 5,000 bags will be stuffed by representatives from across the toy and children’s entertainment  industries including (list Do Good Supporters) Funrise, Jakks Pacific, Mattel, Disney, Uncle Milton and Educational Insights.  Volunteers will work side-by-side with California state officials, and local media to commemorate May as National Foster Care month.

When:       Friday, May 7th from 10 am- 2 pm

Why:    An estimated 300,000 children enter foster care across the United States each year.  Suffering from abuse or neglect, these children often leave their homes with few personal belongings other than the clothes on their backs.

The Toy Industry Foundation has pledged to My Stuff Bags a contribution of $400,000 and 50,000 new toys over two years. The toys are donated via The Toy Bank™, which is generously stocked by toy industry manufacturer contributions throughout the year.

My Stuff Bags was launched in 1998 to address some of the immediate physical and emotional needs of children who must be rescued from abuse, neglect and abandonment.  Traumatized by the events leading to their rescue, these children often enter shelters and foster care with no belongings.  Each individual My Stuff duffel bag is filled with new donated items, giving children comfort and hope and letting them know that lots of people care about them.
