The capital bangkok is a bustling city full of life and rich in history and provides tourists with many surprises, here are some brief examples of places to visit in Bangkok.

Jao Mae Kuan Im Shrine

Jao Mae Kuan Im” or “Gian An Geng” Shrine is situated beside Chao Phraya river, near Wat Kalayanamith. Presumably it was built in Ratthanakosin period by Chinese Hokkian in that area. The most attractive thing to see is the carved wood sculpture of the goddess of mercy ( Jao Mae Kuan Im) and the wooden altar, which was also carved beautifully.

Wat Makutkasattriyaram

Intended to create twin town of Krungsriayadthaya, King Rama IV wished to have temples built along its banks as had been done in Ayutthaya. He then demanded to build 2 temples beside Phadung Krung Kasem Canel. One is”Wat Somanasvihara” for his queen and another is “Wat Makutkasattriyaram” for him. This Temple was actually called Wat Nam Banyad at the first time.

Wat Yannawa

This Temple was built in Ayutthaya period, known as “Wat Kok Khwai”. In order to let people remember the Chinese ship that had originally bought so much prosperity to the kingdom, King Rama III restored it and renamed as “Wat Yannawa” or The Boat Temple. The unique attraction of this temple is the base of the temple that was built in a shape of full size ship and two pagodas.
