By: E. Sue Huff The wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions will be available to sponsor at the Ball, such as Tiana, 12, who wishes to go on a Caribbean cruise, Brigit, 4, who wishes to go to Walt Disney World® and meet a princess, and Donny, 14, who wishes to meet Eddie Van Halen. “All of the funds raised at this event are going to benefit the Foundation and towards granting wishes, but these wishes can be directly sponsored by attendees,” said Norman Wedderburn, President/CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. “It’s something very special to take on a wish and know that you are helping that child through one of the most difficult situations a family can be faced with and making something good out of it. That’s truly magical and there will be 10 wishes available at the Ball to be sponsored.” The 10 wishes are available for sponsorship for $5,000 each and will have full details at the Ball. Sutherlin Nissan and Diamond District are partnering together to sponsor a wish; Chico’s is also a wish sponsor, other sponsors for the Ball include Arthrex and Suncoast Federal Credit Union. The WishMaker’s Ball will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a delicious dinner, and both silent and live auctions, offering up a variety of sought-after items, experiences, and packages. Auction items include a one week stay at a private retreat in Vermont, dinner for eight with Mayor Ben Nelson at Bonefish Grill in Bonita Springs, and a one week stay at the Manhattan Club in New York. The public is invited and urged to reserve tickets early for this whimsical and charitable event. Individual tickets are $175 and tables of 10 are $1,600. Opportunities for sponsorships, auction donations and volunteering are also available. For more information or to get tickets, please contact Connie Martin at 239-992-9474 or cmartin@sflawish.org.
