Hudson Furniture Opens Expansive New Showroom in New York City

May 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Referencing an entirely new aesthetic, Hudson Furniture Inc. opens its brand new showroom in New York, located at 419 West 14th Street, doubling its collection space within an expansive 8,000 square feet,  filled with exquisitely linear furniture, lighting, sculpture and custom décor designs.

The newly merchandised showroom will officially open to the Architecture and Design (A & D) industry at a special by-invitation event to occur Friday, May 14, 2010, in conjunction with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair.

Barlas Baylar’s latest design collection on preview during ICFF 2010, draws inspiration from the refined architectural lines of French 1940’s design, the asymmetry and geometric compositions of Cubist work of the ‘teens, and the mixed media concepts of  the 60’s and 70’s furniture-as-art movement; all the while reaffirming his roots in the company’s established organic repertoire.

The new sofa and ottoman series in macassar ebony and nickel or his new carbon fiber molded and lacquered amorphic base coffee table are exemplary of Baylar’s new tailored futuristic direction. A console or large side cabinet measuring 80 inches, incorporating rare Walnut species from 3 continents which seamlessly merge with a sleek nickel plate, shows the masterful work of Hudson’s renowned artisans, both from a craft and technical vantage point.

Barlas Baylar, in addition to being a visionary industrial designer, has grown the Hudson Furniture enterprise through recessionary times to a multi-million dollar business: from zero, with his expert team, who have invested and loyally worked with him from Day 1, respectively.

Hudson Furniture has also launched its newest brainchild, Hudson International, a collection of inventive and unique designs personally curated by Baylar from artisanal workshops in NYC, Japan, and Europe. Hudson International developed with the intention of introducing relatively unknown design talent and brands that are new to the US, and wider design market.

Since the company’s founding in 2004, the now-popular Hudson collections have evolved from sustainably salvaged and organically-inspired designs in walnut, acacia and petrified woods, into a sleekly refined new vision for upholstery, lighting, and furniture in sophisticated, modern shapes, finishes and sizes.
