April 28, 2010 - PRLog -- The Alzheimer's Association Southeast Florida Chapter and the National Alzheimer’s Association Chapter are working together to interview and film Spanish-speaking caregivers and persons with Alzheimer's of Cuban or Puerto Rican descent.  They are looking for these specific nationalities, as other chapters across the nation have also participated to involve Spanish-speakers of different nationalities.  The project will be a filmed interview in Spanish discussing each person's experience with the disease.

This is a very important project to promote early detection of Alzheimer's to Spanish-speaking individuals.  The Hispanic population is 1.5 times more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease than the Caucasian population.  For this reason, Hispanics volunteering to speak out and tell the community about their experience with the disease is critical and greatly appreciated!

The interview will be filmed this Friday, April 30th.  It is currently to be filmed in Boca Raton, Florida, but if enough people from a certain area volunteer, the filming can be moved to accommodate the majority.

Anyone who is interested in participating, can log onto www.thealzheimerspouse.com  for more information or e-mail joan@thealzheimerspouse.com
