Allstate’s NY Office Applauds Gillibrand for Protecting Teen Drivers

Senator’s support of uniform graduated driver licensing will help save lives

April 27, 2010 - PRLog -- Allstate Insurance Company’s New York Regional Office issued the following statement in support of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D-NY) sponsorship of the Safe Teen and Novice Driver Uniform Protection (STANDUP) Act in the United States Senate.

“Teen crashes and teen-driving fatalities have long plagued New York families, especially in downstate New York where Suffolk and Nassau Counties have the highest number of teen deaths annually in the state and there are nearly 10,000 teen-related crashes every year.

“Allstate is proud of its ongoing work to raise critical awareness on the importance of responsible driving among New York teens and their parents. Specifically, for the third consecutive year, Allstate will commit more than $200,000 to statewide programs and events that are dedicated to encouraging safe and smart driving by teens.

“We believe in arming young people with the right educational tools, experiences and information so that they can become responsible drivers. We’re honored that Senator Gillibrand shares our concern for addressing these issues with uniform graduated driver licensing (GDL) standards, as outlined in the STANDUP Act.

“We are deeply grateful to her for taking a visible stand in support of this important cause and sponsoring this bill in the United States Senate. Her leadership, in New York and countrywide, will continue the mission to save thousands of lives each year.”
