Radon Tee Given Strong Support From Steel Association
Radon Tee UK recently visited the British Constructional Steelwork Association to help spread awareness of the need to test properties for radon gas
BCSA is the national organisation for the steel construction industry, with member companies undertaking the design, fabrication and erection of steelwork for all forms of construction. Founded in 1906, the Association promotes the interests of the industry and provides members with professional advice, including on aspects of health and safety at work.
Pete Walker, Health, Safety & Training Manager of BCSA had previously attended a seminar on the subject of radon gas, and admitted that he was unaware the hazard was so prevalent. Mr Walker subsequently arranged for ProTen to deliver the seminar to the Committee so that member companies could be informed about the risks of radon gas and legislation that requires them to test workplaces in Affected Areas or those with basements.
In 1990, the BCSA received a letter of praise for its record year of trade from then Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher and in 1996 Tony Blair congratulated the Association on its 100 year anniversary.
US non-profit organisation, CanSAR (Cancer Survivors Against Radon) is dedicated to preventing radon-induced lung cancer and saving lives through education and awareness, and is sponsoring the Radon Tee World Trek 2010. The campaign aims to bring social awareness to communities through the power of photos, videos and personal stories.
ProTen Services are taking the Tee on a national tour and will be adding photos to the social media campaign at www.facebook.com/
