April 26, 2010 - PRLog -- NIWOT, CO - Von Campbell of Agilent Technologies, who is also president of the LXI Consortium, addressed attendees at the Automated Test and Measurement Forum, a part of the 2010 China Electronics Technology Conference, in Shenzhen, China, on April 9, 2010. His presentation, titled LXI Consortium – 2010 Report to the Test Industry, addressed topics that included the growth in Consortium membership and products compliant with the LXI Standard, the new testing/certification facility based in China, advanced features now incorporated into the Standard, common applications of LXI technology, and the preparations now underway to incorporate and properly position emerging technologies.

Campbell's presentation at the conference was recorded and is now available on the LXI Consortium's website at http://lxistandard.org/press/papers/. The conference, under the theme of New Technologies for Industrial Restructuring and Upgrading, was held in conjunction with the China Electronics Fair, April 9 through 11.

Over the last year, the LXI Consortium has grown steadily, both in terms of membership and in the number of compliant products available:
• New members of the Consortium include NPP MERA, from the Russian Federation; Acery Technologies Ltd. and Automatic Test & Control Institute, both from the People's Republic of China; Good Will Instrument Co., Ltd. and Chroma ATE Inc., both from Taiwan; and Giga-tronics Incorporated, Proft InFocus, and Tyco Electronics, all from the United States. Last year, Harbin Institute of Technology, China, became the first educational institution to join the Consortium's newly established University membership category, which was added to enhance learning about and using LXI-compliant instruments. The worldwide locations of these new members reflect the increasingly global reach for LXI instrumentation.
• With more than1300 test and measurement products in 162 product categories now certified as LXI compliant, every major product category needed to build a high performance test system is now covered, with no holes or gaps in instrument capability. The breadth of support for LXI instrumentation has grown to include software and connectivity tools.

About LXI and the LXI Consortium
Introduced in 2005, the LXI Standard has been rapidly implemented by numerous hardware and software companies, as well as systems integrators. These organizations, which represent a who's who of the test-and-measurement industry, recognize that not only is LXI the natural evolution of the test and measurement instrument interface but that it also makes it easier for test system designers and integrators to create faster, more efficient systems. To date, more than 1300 products have been certified as being compliant with the LXI Standard and annual sales of LXI-equipped test and measurement equipment now exceed $200 million (US) (Source: Frost & Sullivan).

The LXI Standard creates new capabilities that optimize test throughput, overall system performance, and cost efficiency in a way that allows engineers to build powerful, web-enabled test systems in less time. The LXI Consortium, a not-for-profit corporation comprised of leading test and measurement companies, manages the Standard. The group's goals are to develop, support, and promote the LXI Standard. LXI's flexible packaging, high-speed I/O, and standardized use of LAN connectivity address a broad range of commercial, industrial, aerospace, and military applications.

Additional information about LXI-compliant products as well as licensing, specifications, and Consortium membership is available at www.lxistandard.org.
