By: Giles Brake

April 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Carag De Mesa & Zaballero, one of the Philippines’ leading, local law firms, has joined MSI Global Alliance,  a Top 20 ranked, international network of law and accounting firms.

Established in 1996, the Manila based firm has grown to become a five partner, 25 staff firm with a growing number of internationally focused clients. To ensure legal services requiring foreign counsel could be provided to its clients in a cost efficient and reliable manner, the firm began the search for a recognised, international law firm network that would allow the firm to retain its independence and keep its cost base low.

Priscilla Zaballero, partner, comments: “With many clients now requiring advice in jurisdictions throughout Asia and in Europe, the Middle East and North America, it is important that we establish stronger, more formal links to law firms around the world. Our appointment as a MSI Global Alliance (MSI) http://www.msiglobal.org member firm provides the global reach our clients require.

“Membership also enhances the profile of our firm in the Philippines and will play an important part in our strategy to attract international corporations requiring legal and tax related services in our country and in neighbouring regions.”

Carag De Mesa & Zaballero http://www.cdmzlaw.com  is a full service, commercial law firm with expertise in the following areas of the law: taxation, corporate and commercial, litigation, government procurement and public bidding, labour and employment, intellectual property and immigration.”

James Mendelssohn, MSI’s Chief Executive, comments: “The appointment of Carag De Mesa & Zaballero as MSI’s sole law member in the Philippines is another big step forward for MSI in the East Asia region. Entrepreneurial companies with cross border interests have a real alternative to the large, international law firms, and the availability of accounting firms within our membership also ensures an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to their business.

“We are now aiming to extend MSI’s coverage to Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea and Taiwan, and invite strong, local firms to apply. Interested candidate firms can also meet with us at the IPBA Annual Conference from 2-5 May in Singapore.”

This latest appointment extends MSI’s membership to 250 member firms in 104 countries throughout the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East & Africa regions.

ABOUT MSI GLOBAL ALLIANCE
MSI Global Alliance (MSI) is an international association of independent professional firms with 250 member firms in 104 countries. MSI was formed in 1990 in response to the growing need for cross-border co-operation between professional services firms. MSI’s aims are to enhance its independent member firms’ capabilities by providing access to growth opportunities for staff and business through affiliation with like-minded firms in the world’s main commercial centres. In addition to global reach, member firms benefit from opportunities for interaction through local, regional and international meetings programmes, a dedicated website for participating member firms, national and international practice groups, and an employee exchange programme.
