A History of LMI’s Sodium Hypochlorite Liquid Ends for Suction Lift Applications

A History of LMI’s Sodium Hypochlorite Liquid Ends for Suction Lift Applications

April 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Originally LMI introduced the bleed 4FV to manually set a percentage of the pump's discharge to return to the supply tank; The manual set screw of the bleed 4FV replaced
the priming knob on the standard 4FV. The bleed 4FV is functional, but setting the screw can be temperamental and it is easy for another user to change the setting and limit the
effectiveness of the bleed 4FV.
Due to the variability associated with manually setting the bleed 4FV, LMI introduced the autoprime valve about 8 years ago in order to be able to retrofit all existing installations. The autoprime valve screws into the top of the pump head, the cartridge valve goes on top of the autoprime valve, andthe standard 4FV is screwed into the top of the autoprime valve.  This configuration of the autoprime valve and standard 4FV is better than the bleed 4FV, as it eliminates user's intervention. However, the autoprime valve's effectiveness seems to depend on the quality of the sodium hypochlorite and the installation setup. Overall, the auto prime valve is effective in 75% of its installations.
Therefore in 2009, LMI released the autoprime liquid ends which utilize a known and effective design.  The degassing valve is on top of the head and the chemical discharge is
out of a spring loaded check valve out of the front of the head. This product design is superior to the autoprime valve + 4FV and the bleed 4FV.
Due to the improved design, we have been recommending the autoprime liquid ends to a number of municipal and industrial resellers that service accounts that pump sodium hypochlorite from a suction lift application.  If you would like to see LMI's new autoprime valve liquid ends, new A pump or any of their ofher equipment that we stock and support, please contact us at sales@accent-control.com.
