April 16, 2010 - PRLog -- San Diego, Ca -- April 16, 2010 -- San Diego Boca FC (0-1-0) takes on the Bay Area Ambassadors (1-1-0) at Gladiator Stadium at Chabot Community College on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 3:00 pm in Hayward, California.  SD Boca FC leaves San Diego on Saturday to embark upon its first road trip for the club as part of the 2010 National Premier Soccer League season.

San Diego Boca FC is coming off a tough loss in their home opener against another Western Division opponent, Real San Jose (2-0-0) on April 3. The Bay Area Ambassadors also suffered defeat at the hands of division leading Real San Jose when they faced off on April 10 in San Jose. This match up is a pivotal contest for both clubs, as they each try to rebound from losses, and keep pace with Real San Jose in the standings, who lead the division with 6 points.

Club President and General Manager Yan Skwara commented, “This is an important trip for our club as to be able to stay competitive within our division. It is only our second league match but it is crucial for us to remain within striking distance of the division leaders and develop some winning momentum. The Bay Area Ambassadors had a similar result against Real San Jose as we did, so it will be a tough matchup either way. Bay Area is going to play tough and hard and we must respond as a team with no excuses.”

Currently, Real San Jose leads the Western Division with an unbeaten 2-0-0 record, lead by Johnny Gonzalez, who has scored a hat trick in each of Real’s first two matches and accounts for all six of the team’s goals. The Bay Area Ambassadors and Sacramento Gold (1-0-1) are tied in second as each holds 3 points in the table. San Diego Boca FC and Southern Oregon Fuego both endured losses in their season openers and own 0-0-1 records.  Sonoma County Sol (0-0-0) rounds out the table as they have yet to play their first match.

The Bay Area Ambassadors have established a strong team for the 2010 campaign. The Ambassadors are looking to build upon their third place finish from their 2009 season, and are led by a solid attack upfront. Although they lost striker Johnny Gonzalez to Real San Jose in the offseason, they boast forwards Aneesh Rana and Sylvester Karr, Jr. The Ambassadors’ midfield is well orchestrated by Manuel Vasquez, Stefon Clemons, and Jacob Wilson.  Goalkeeper Sergio Valle anchors the Bay Area defense.

After the weekend trip to the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego Boca FC will return home to host Southern Oregon Fuego on Saturday, May 1 at 7:00 pm at Helix High Soccer Stadium.  In Oregon’s first game of the season, they allowed 6 goals from Sacramento’s attack.
