April 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Conducted in an “Iron Chef” format, the representatives will be assigned “special ingredients” such as waveform, quality assurance testing, innovations and more.  It’s up to “chefs” to convince the conference audience that their company’s AED units best incorporate these elements.

“We are excited to bring our customers and partners together using this fun and informative format,” says Bill Clendenen, CEO of HSI.  “Our Instructors ask us for guidance and advice on AEDs, just as their own students and customers ask for recommendations on these life-saving devices. This year, we offer an unprecedented opportunity to hear directly from the majority of major AED manufacturers as they compare product features and benefits in a face-to-face setting.”

At the end of the timed presentations, the audience will vote for the AED manufacturer that “cooked” the best demonstration in using the secret ingredients.   The Iron Chef AED will be revealed on Tuesday, April 13.

“AEDs have proven to significantly increase the survivability following sudden cardiac arrest,” says Dr. Benjamin Abella, Clinical Research Director of the Center for Resuscitation Science at the University of Pennsylvania, who served as Chairman for the Iron Chef AED event.  “This represents an innovative, exciting way to inform Instructors and Training Center Directors, who influence others on emergency care training, about the benefits associated with automated external defibrillators.”
