Youth Job and Resource Fair at San Luis Obispo County's One-Stop Locations

April 15, 2010 - PRLog -- This April, the Youth Employment Program at Cuesta College will be hosting three Youth Job and Resource Fairs at Business and Career One-Stop locations throughout the county.

California's  unemployment rate for teenagers is at 33%.  The more resources and confidence youth can acquire,  the better chance they will have finding employment in this difficult economy. Many youth are applying for their first job and are in tough competition with experienced workers.

Local employers will be present to offer tips on interviewing, what they look for in a potential employee, job and career opportunities, and encouragement.

The first event is April 21 at 880 Industrial Way in San Luis Obispo, across from the Graduate.  Followed by North and South County events to be held on April 28 at the Cuesta College North County Campus, Building 4000 in Paso Robles  and  at 1800 East Grand Avenue, Ste. H in Grover Beach.  All three events will take place from 5-7 pm.

Cuesta College Youth Employment Program, through the Workforce Investment Act, provides services to youth: academic tutoring, work readiness training, leadership and mentoring, paid and unpaid work experiences, job shadowing, internships, occupational skills training, supportive services and linkages to employment, post-secondary education, apprenticeship opportunities, and trade schools.
