Local Bike Tour in Northern New Jersey: May 1st, 2010: Brake the Hunger Cycle Tour

April 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Attention all Bikers!  Join a ride on the Hunger Cycle Tour, the largest charity bike ride in northern New Jersey, on Saturday, May 1st.  This is not a race, but a ride through scenic Morris County, with five skill levels, from an easy 4-mile ride to a challenging 62-miler.  All rides begin and end at host church, St. David’s, in Kinnelon.  A backyard BBQ with live music and family entertainment rounds out the event.  All riders’ fees are divided between the New Jersey Community Food Bank and projects to provide clean, sanitary water sources in Africa.  To register or for more information: http://www.HungerCycleTour.com .

On Saturday, May 1st, hundreds will bike to help hundreds of millions.  St. David’s Episcopal Church of Kinnelon will be hosting the third annual HUNGER CYCLE TOUR, the largest charity bike event in northern New Jersey.  ALL profits go toward solving problems both near and far.
The event supports our Diocesan Millennium Development Goals mission as well as local needs.  Specifically, profits will be donated as follows:

75% will go to the Episcopal Relief and Development fund to build and maintain clean water sources in Africa.

25% will go to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey to deal with our needy neighbors.

Last year riders from several local communities and ten churches of our Diocese joined the event.  And, they were led by Bishop Beckwith, who swapped his miter for a helmet to ride that day.  The Bishop rides again this year and you can join him!

The event consists of riders paying a fee to ride one of five routes (4- and 12- miles for the beginners and 25-, 40- and 62-miles for the serious cyclists.  A giant post-ride BBQ with live music follows the ride and many other extras. Remember the term 250 riders for 1 Billion people.  250 riders will be pedaling to support 1 Billion needy people.
