-- Launched in 2007, the current ecommerce operation offers a concise selection of UNIQLO items, relative to that of a smaller bricks and mortar store. Plans for the new ecommerce operation include offering the entire UNIQLO collection, as well as online exclusives; meeting customer demands and bringing the best of this successful Japanese brand to a nationwide audience.
UNIQLO UK CEO, Simon Coble recognises the expansion of the ecommerce website as an important growth for the fashion company (http://www.uniqlo.co.uk/):
“we have a huge opportunity to further expand the UNIQLO brand in the UK and the ecommerce website needs to become our most important store to enable us to do this. We aim for the UNIQLO ecommerce operation to be the most profitable store by the end of 2010 and I’m very excited to be expanding the ecommerce team to spearhead this growth.”
Although UNIQLO is now expanding stores within France and Russia, with more countries planned, the UK online clothing store website is the only online European operation and will ultimately offer the platform for future European ecommerce expansion.
