Dr. Adam Schwartz Joins Vision Source Las Vegas

April 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Las Vegas — Vision Source Las Vegas announces that Dr. Adam Schwartz has joined its network of local optometrists. Dr. Schwartz, whose practice is located at 3016 W. Charleston Blvd. in Las Vegas, has been practicing optometry for 10 years. He focuses on diagnosing hard-to-detect ocular diseases and in fitting contact lenses in patients with challenging vision. The Baltimore native, who moved to Las Vegas in 2000, discovered his passion for optometry as an undergraduate at the University of Maryland in College Park, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology. He interned at Bascom Palmer Eye Hospital in Miami and went on to earn a doctor of optometry (O.D.) from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. At the Eye Institute at Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, he completed a residency with a special focus on ocular disease.

“I remember the moment that I realized that I could change a person’s life through my profession,” says Dr. Schwartz. “I was examining a young woman who had a childhood corneal infection in both eyes, which left scarring. She was told she could never wear contacts and she couldn’t see well with glasses. Once I got her fitted for contacts she began to cry because she could see clearly for the first time in a long time. That is why I love what I do.”

Dr. Schwartz joined the Vision Source Las Vegas group in order to exchange ideas and share knowledge with optometrists whom he greatly respects. He is confident that this group dynamic will help him to enhance his abilities as a doctor because of the supportive environment that it creates.

Dr. Schwartz lives by the motto “Be a mensch.” (Mensch is a Yiddish term that means a person of honor and integrity.) He applies this philosophy to his own life through active participation in community service. Dr. Schwartz is a board member of Sight for Life, a non-profit organization that gives free eye exams to those who are financially challenged. Dr. Schwartz looks forward to becoming active in the many community service projects that Vision Source Las Vegas participates in, including annual screenings for high-risk glaucoma patients and diabetics, and the Vision Source scholarship program.

Apart from practicing optometry, Dr. Schwartz also enjoys spending time with his wife, skiing, and golfing or playing softball.
