Participation is free and open to anyone who has lost a dear animal companion
Ms. Harmonay recently completed a five-week Pet Loss Counselor Training program through the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement, a national nonprofit organization of volunteers who are dedicated to helping people through the process of mourning the death of a cherished animal. In her role as an animal communicator, Maureen frequently works with people whose animals are terminally ill or near death. Based on her experiences with clients, and as the loving caretaker of several animals who have died during the last few years, Maureen wants to offer a place where grieving animal lovers can come to be comforted and where the memories of their animals can be honored. "I want to create a gentle space for anyone who has recently lost a beloved animal companion," Maureen said, "to share their stories, to honor their animals, and to be honored for their role as a compassionate caretaker. Dr. Randy Caviness of the Integrative Animal Health Center in Bolton has kindly offered his clinic as a venue for this support group, which I hope will be an adjunct to the holistic care for which he and his staff have become so well known." The first Animal Loss and Support Group http://www.animallossandsupport.blogspot.com meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 14th, and thereafter on the second Wednesday of each month, at the Integrative Animal Health Center http://www.iahcbolton.com, 556 Main St. (Rte. 117) in Bolton, starting at 7:30pm.
